About this route
Volcano to cloud forest — the classic Costa Rica leg. The road curves around the entire western shore of Lake Arenal, with volcano views behind you and windsurf-country vistas ahead, before climbing the unpaved mountain road into Monteverde. (The "jeep-boat-jeep" option crosses the lake instead; ask us which suits your luggage and schedule.)
Route notes: Around-the-lake route is the comfortable option; jeep-boat-jeep is faster but involves a boat transfer with your bags.
