About this tour
Driving south along the Pacific coast toward Manuel Antonio, the landscape shifts from cattle pasture to dense green tropical forest meeting turquoise water — and that transition tells you everything about why this small national park became the most visited in Costa Rica. It packs more biodiversity per square kilometer than almost anywhere else on the planet, and your private naturalist guide is the difference between walking past that sloth and knowing exactly where to look for it three-toed in a cecropia tree above the trail.
The park's network of trails runs through lowland rainforest before opening onto some of the finest white sand beaches in the country. Manuel Antonio Beach and Biesanz Beach are postcard perfect — calm waters, fine sand, backed by jungle, with waves gentle enough to swim in comfort. Between the beach sessions, your guide leads you along the Cathedral Point trail, reliably delivering wildlife sightings: white-faced capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys (the endangered titi, endemic to this coast), three-toed sloths, and coatis rummaging through fallen fruit.
Birdwatchers will want to slow down on every section. The park hosts fiery-billed aracaris, blue-crowned motmots, and the occasional scarlet macaw. Your guide carries a spotting scope and knows which trails are producing sightings on any given morning.
The pace is unhurried — time for swimming, wildlife photography, and a proper beach lunch in the shade. Your guide handles everything from parking to the park's timed entry system, so your morning starts relaxed instead of standing in a queue.
